He has been in Public Life since 1969 when he was unanimously elected as the President of Raghogarh Municipality at a young age of 22 years. He is also deeply religious person which he proved when he took upon the challenge to continuously walk for more than 3200 kms to fulfill a commitment which he had made to himself when one night in Mandla staying at Mandla Circuit House he had spiritualistic intuitive premonition in 2002 to do Narmada Parikrama. Because of his commitment to public life he couldn’t find time to do a walk of more than 3200 kms at one stretch which is mandatory. In 2017 after series of traumatic personal experiences he decided to do Ma Narmada Parikrama. ... A spiritual diktat became a Socio-Economic Environmental Protection lifetime experience for him. How mindless development is destroying our rivers and that too the oldest river in this part of the World, Ma Narmada. What can be a sustainable Model of Development which can provide Livelihood without destroying our Natural Resources Forests Land River Air is the challenge. Shouldn’t we do it? Or, Can we do it? This is a challenge for coming generations.

In 2017 when her husband was considering to do Narmada Parikrama on foot she gave up her long standing journalistic career to under take long and arduous 3200 kms plus journey on foot to understand the socio economic ground realities of people living along the banks of river Narmada. She resigned from her Rajya Sabha TV career to take up the challenge of doing Narmada Parikrama with her husband. ... It was her husband’s religious conviction but both of them tried to understand the hardships of local residents near those areas where they walked together. They spent day and night and the whole 6 months with them to make a relationship and to create a trust building between them. Though It was not limited to Madhya Pradesh but they chose their ground here because they belong to this state and it’s an origin place of Narmada river also. Walking by foot is a rare unusual phenomenon in the present times. In their journey of 192 days covering more than 3200 kms through the fields jungles roads and villages crossing small rivulets staying in tents and whatever accommodation which was available en route, infused in both of them a unique experience of knowing the ground realities of poor underprivileged Schedule Tribes Schedule caste farmers small traders and their living conditions. It also gave them deep insight of why thousands of people undertake this journey for self emancipation in their life which is so intrinsically associated with Sanatan Dharm. Something which no other Political leader has undertaken so far.

He is a Lawyer who remained President of MP Lawyers Association for more than 2 decades. He has been a 2 term Member of Lok Sabha. He formed MP Shikshak Congress and has been fighting for the Rights of Teachers since 1980s. Digvijaya Singh and Rameshwar Neekhra have worked very closely for more than last 40 years. Born and brought up in Narmada Valley he has wide contacts among the people in the Valley. He was the first person to whom Digvijaya Singh confided when he had the spiritualistic intuition to do Narmada Parikrama in 2002. He immediately volunteered to do it together. ...Just 6 months before I decided to do the Narmada Parikrama he had an open heart surgery but he insisted that he has made a personal commitment to do Narmada Parikrama with me and he would do it. We consulted his heart surgeon and he also requested him not to overstretch but he was adamant. I agreed with a condition that whenever he felt tired he would not refuse to sit in a car. To which he agreed. But to his credit he led our Parikrama from the front for full 3200 kms on foot. A grassroot politician his political journey has been spotlessly clean and committed to his Ideology.
